As part of the refurbishment and extensions to the theatre within the University, a contiguous pile wall was required. MG Construction Ltd won the subcontract to design and construct a piled 4.5 metre high retaining wall.

This wall extended into the existing theatre building requiring production of dual design and construction methods. The external wall was built using 600mm CFA bored piles and internal works completed around the proposed stage in 220mm diameter permanently cased bored mini piles.

Monitoring of the building was carried out during piling and no significant movements recorded.
